2019 Annual Dues Form

The Bishop’s Men of the Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island was founded in 1974 with a mandate "to assist the Bishop with both finances for a discretionary fund and advice".

Since that time, the Friends of the Bishop - the name was changed in 2008 to reflect evolving membership - has provided the Diocesan Bishop with discretionary funds and general support.

From the beginning, the Friends of the Bishop has held an annual dinner with members to provide opportunities for fellowship & support to the Bishop.

Membership fees and future planned events raise much-needed funds and, more importantly, raise awareness of the wonderful work carried out by the Diocese of NS and PEI.

A message from Archbishop Ron Cutler

For more than 30 years, by supporting the work of the Friends of the Bishop (formerly The Bishop’s Men), dedicated members of the Diocese have provided a fund for the Diocesan Bishop, to provide for special needs that arise from time to time for the clergy.

This support allows me, in consultation with the Archdeacons, to respond quickly to emergencies facing any of the clergy or their families. In this way, we are able to care for our clergy as they care for members of their congregations.

As well, I am able to support postulants and clergy in taking advantage of unique opportunities that become available and are not within the normal budget.

In addition, the Friends of the Bishop now sustains, The Pete Stanfield Bursary, which was started by the Bishop’s Men. The bursary supports a deserving student studying for ordained ministry.

In the future, I look forward to hosting regional annual dinners/lunches for members and friends.

I am thankful for your assistance.

Many Blessings,

The Most Reverend Ron Cutler
Bishop of NS & PEI
